Join YAC!

Join YAC, and you’ll work to combat mental health issues, substance use, race discrimination, and other challenges your peers grapple with every day.  You’ll serve your community, not because you got caught spray-painting your high school or egging a teacher’s car, but because you want to. You’ll be a grantmaker who helps dispense tens of thousands of dollars of aid to youth-related projects in Muskegon County—each year. Interested? We will be recruiting new representatives from local school districts in early spring of 2024. The application will be available at that time.

Youth Advisory Council Membership Application

  • The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a collective of teen grantmakers who represent 16 Muskegon-area high schools. This team meets monthly to allot over $60,000 to local youth-serving organizations and projects. When YAC isn't grantmaking, it's planning community service projects and site visits to the organizations it funds.

YAC is currently looking for representatives from many of our local school districts. Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed by the current youth advisory council and you'll be contacted for a 10-minute interview via email. Our interviews for the 2024-25 school year are ongoing. You'll typically know if you've been selected within a week or so of your interview.

Visit the YAC FAQ to learn more about us. If you have any questions about the application process, please let us know at yac@muskegonfoundation.org.
